Deep tissue massage is a deeper more intense massage. It invloves applying deep pressure using slow, deep and guided strokes firm pressure to target the inner layers of your muscles and connective tissues. This helps to break up scar tissue that forms following an injury and reduce tension in muscles and tissues. The process of healing sometimes includes a healing crisis which known as a cleansing reaction. During a healing crisis, you can feel even worse than before deep tissue massage. The good news is that this reaction is likely a sign that you are getting better by way of a deep and thorough cleansing.
